Nucor Corporation is hiring an Equipment Operator in Kansas City, MO (Onsite, Full-Time). This role is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment in a fast-paced scrap yard environment to support production and material movement. The top three requirements for this position are the ability to operate heavy equipment such as cranes and loaders, the ability to work safely in an industrial outdoor environment, and the ability to work 10–12 hour shifts with schedule flexibility including overtime and weekends.

Job Requirements:
• Ability to properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and housekeeping standards
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as cranes, loaders, forklifts, or skid steers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop industrial environment
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
• Ability to stand or walk for up to 12 hours per day
• Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes and work independently
• Reliable attendance with dependability and consistency
• Flexibility to work Monday–Friday 7:45am–4:30pm and Saturdays 7:45am–Noon
• Willingness to work overtime, off-hours, weekends, and outdoors in all weather conditions
• Complete and verifiable work history including employer names, dates, job titles, and responsibilities
Job Duties:
• Operate heavy equipment including cranes, loaders, and other machinery
• Load scrap material onto shredder feed conveyor and manage shred piles
• Move materials throughout the yard and load trucks and railcars
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report defects or repair needs
• Maintain clean and safe grounds by removing debris
• Operate small equipment such as forklifts or skid steers as needed
• Perform general labor duties including sweeping, shoveling, and equipment clean-up
• Communicate effectively over radio for traffic coordination, production updates, and safety procedures
• Cross-train in additional positions and assist teammates as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
