The Epic Ancillary Applications Analyst plays a key role in delivering expert-level design, build, configuration, optimization, and support across one or more Epic Ancillary applications, including but not limited to Radiant (Imaging), Cupid (Cardiology), Beaker (Laboratory), or Willow (Pharmacy).

Operating in an AMS environment, this analyst serves as a subject matter expert (SME) supporting multiple clients, ensuring system performance, workflow optimization, and alignment with Epic best practices. The role requires both technical depth and operational insight into ancillary workflows, bridging clinical and technical teams to drive seamless interoperability and system reliability.

This position is ideal for an experienced Epic professional who understands the full ecosystem of Epic’s ancillary applications and their integration with inpatient and ambulatory modules such as Orders, ClinDoc, and EpicCare Ambulatory.

Key Responsibilities:

Epic Ancillary Design, Build & Configuration

  • Lead the design, configuration, and optimization of assigned Epic Ancillary applications (Radiant, Cupid, Beaker, and/or Willow) to support accurate, efficient clinical and operational workflows.
  • Build and maintain application components such as procedure records, order transmittal logic, charge capture configuration, preference lists, and test or medication workflows.
  • Translate client operational requirements into scalable Epic build solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Ensure build consistency and integration between ancillary systems and core Epic modules, including Orders, ClinDoc, and ADT.
  • Evaluate and implement new Epic features, participating in release assessments, build impact reviews, and change control processes.
  • Document build specifications, design decisions, and testing results in accordance with AMS governance standards.

AMS Support & Maintenance

  • Provide advanced L2/L3-level support for ancillary Epic applications across multiple AMS clients.
  • Troubleshoot complex cross-module issues, including order transmission, charge capture, and result routing across ancillary workflows.
  • Maintain application stability, perform proactive monitoring, and implement optimizations to improve end-user satisfaction and performance.
  • Participate in upgrade readiness planning, regression testing, and version migration efforts.
  • Manage incident and request queues within AMS SLAs, ensuring timely and thorough resolution.
  • Support integration validation between Epic and third-party systems (PACS, LIS, Pharmacy Automation, or CVIS).

Subject Matter Expertise & Client Advisory

  • Serve as the Epic Ancillary SME, offering guidance on build standards, workflow design, and module-specific best practices.
  • Provide product insight regarding Epic’s Ancillary roadmap, capabilities, and limitations to inform client decision-making.
  • Collaborate with clinical, imaging, laboratory, and pharmacy stakeholders to align configuration with operational needs and compliance standards.
  • Contribute to RFP responses, solution design sessions, and new business development by lending expert-level ancillary application insight.
  • Support expansion and optimization initiatives that align with client growth and service line expansion goals.

Collaboration & Delivery Excellence

  • Partner with Epic AMS Leads, Project Managers, and cross-module analysts (Orders, ClinDoc, MyChart, etc.) to deliver seamless AMS service and integration.
  • Participate in governance and client review meetings, presenting issue trends, system performance metrics, and enhancement opportunities.
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts to strengthen the AMS team’s technical depth and service consistency.
  • Contribute to internal AMS toolkits, reusable configuration templates, and playbooks that drive delivery efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Radiologic Technology, Pharmacy, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5+ years of Epic build, support, and optimization experience within one or more ancillary modules (Radiant, Cupid, Beaker, Willow).
  • Active Epic certification(s) in one or more ancillary applications required, such as Radiant, Cupid, Beaker, etc.
  • Additional certifications in Orders or ClinDoc preferred.
  • Deep understanding of ancillary workflows and integration points with clinical and operational Epic modules.
  • Proven experience in order routing, result reporting, charge capture, and interface troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and environments in a consulting or AMS model.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical, operational, and clinical teams.
  • Experience supporting Epic upgrades, version releases, and cross-application optimization initiatives.
Core Competencies:
  • Epic Expertise: Deep understanding of Radiant, Cupid, Beaker, and/or Willow with knowledge of dependencies across modules.
  • Operational Insight: Strong understanding of imaging, cardiology, laboratory, or pharmacy workflows and compliance standards.
  • Analytical Acumen: Skilled in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving complex cross-application issues.
  • Client Partnership: Provides consultative, value-driven service that aligns with client goals and AMS standards.
  • Technical Precision: Ensures consistency, accuracy, and quality in all configuration and documentation.
  • Collaboration: Works effectively with multidisciplinary teams and across Epic modules.
