Position Overview
A leading environmental services organization is seeking a Senior Principal Environmental Consultant to oversee project execution, drive regional business growth, and lead a high-performing team in Austin, TX.
This role combines advanced technical expertise, business development responsibilities, and team leadership, including oversight of project performance and P&L elements. Candidates should have a strong background in environmental consulting, remediation, and client engagement.
Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Growth
- Build, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the regional portfolio.
- Represent the organization at local industry events and select national conferences each year.
- Support strategic planning and long-term market growth initiatives.
Team Leadership & Operations
- Lead, mentor, and develop local team members to support their professional growth.
- Manage workloads, ensure quality project delivery, and maintain a collaborative team environment.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and overall project profitability.
- Support and guide multidisciplinary teams and dotted-line reports.
Technical Expertise & Project Delivery
- Lead or support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
- Plan and oversee soil, vapor, and groundwater investigations.
- Develop and implement remedial action plans, including field oversight.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates.
- Ensure all deliverables meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of environmental consulting experience, including remediation and due diligence.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Proven experience managing complex environmental projects and client relationships.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Geoscientist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE).
- Experience with operational oversight, including financial or P&L responsibility.
- Leadership experience involving team development and managing staff.
- Existing network within industrial, commercial, or energy sectors.
- Demonstrated success generating or expanding client accounts.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
