We are seeking a seasoned, passionate, and highly skilled Environmental Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in environmental transactional law OR environmental law litigation, with a particular focus on CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act. This is a permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on environmental policy and regulation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice on a broad range of environmental matters and will be instrumental in shaping and implementing our environmental legal strategy.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide expert legal advice on a broad range of environmental matters, including CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and other state related statutes.
2. Lead and manage environmental law litigation, including preparing legal documents, conducting legal research, and representing the organization in court.
3. Conduct due diligence for environmental transactions and advise on potential risks and liabilities.
4. Develop and implement environmental legal strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
5. Stay up-to-date with changes in environmental laws and regulations and advise the organization on potential impacts.
6. Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
7. Negotiate and draft environmental agreements and contracts.
8. Provide training and guidance to other team members on environmental law matters.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Minimum of 3-10 years of experience in environmental law, with a focus on environmental transactional law OR environmental law litigation.
3. Extensive knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, environmental regulation, and Superfund.
4. Proven experience representing organizations in environmental law litigation OR transactional work
5. Excellent legal research and writing skills.
6. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to interpret and apply complex environmental laws and regulations.
8. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Admitted to practice law in the state.
