Environmental Engineer - (Part-Time)
Anaheim, CA
Part-Time – 16 Hours per Week
Schedule: 8:00 AM
– 5:00 PM (Flexible within team schedule)
 
We are seeking an Engineer I – Environmental Compliance to support hazardous and nonhazardous waste programs across a large, multi-site entertainment and hospitality environment.
 
This role is ideal for an early-career environmental or engineering professional who wants hands-on experience managing regulated waste compliance programs in California while working cross-functionally with operations, construction, and regulatory agencies.
You will help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations while supporting internal partners and government agencies.
 
What You’ll Do
Hazardous Waste Compliance
  • Monitor and review regulatory updates from DTSC, EPA, and DOT
  • Conduct internal compliance inspections (weekly/monthly)
  • Support end-point disposal facilities, including TSDF desk audits
  • Create and maintain hazardous waste profiles
  • Coordinate and/or deliver Hazardous Waste Handler training
  • Review sampling data to determine waste classification
  • Prepare and sign hazardous waste manifests
  • Support construction projects with disposal coordination
 
Nonhazardous Waste Compliance
  • Review and provide input on CalRecycle regulatory changes
  • Manage compliance reporting and waste data tracking
  • Maintain nonhazardous waste profiles
  • Support construction project disposal coordination
 
Program Support
  • Develop and maintain internal communication materials
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple facilities
  • Interface with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
 
Basic Qualifications
  • 0–2 years of experience managing hazardous or regulated waste compliance programs in California
  • Experience with environmental sampling and analysis
  • Understanding of hazardous material chemistry
  • Experience working with regional, state, or federal regulatory agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate field teams
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across organizational levels
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in hazardous waste, solid waste, and recycling compliance
  • Experience in environmental compliance program implementation
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple deliverables
  • Knowledge of:
    • CalRecycle regulatory programs
    • DTSC regulatory programs
    • California Medical Waste Management Act
    • DOT / PHMSA requirements for hazardous materials transportation
  • CHMM or CHMP certification (or ability to obtain)
 
Education Requirements
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil or Chemical preferred)
