Summary:
As a Composites Layup Technician at RACE, you will be responsible for performing tasks to help build high-performance parts for automotive seating systems. This role will be trained to work with carbon fiber and other cutting-edge materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comply with written work instructions, standard procedures, and processes to assemble composite materials
- Work with materials like carbon fiber, fiberglass, and aramid (Kevlar)
- Use tools like routers, sanders, and hand tools to shape and finish parts.
- Assist in fitting core components with attention to close tolerances.
- Assist in laying out and marking dimensions and reference lines on materials to develop and trace patterns of product or parts or use templates.
- Deliver quality products and services on time.
- Handle materials safely and follow workplace safety.
- Assist in performing non-routine and non-repetitive procedures in the fabrication, curing, build-up, and assembly of various types of composite materials.
- Gain basic familiarity with composite technology, including hi-temp plastics, pre-impregnated epoxy composite materials, graphite epoxy, wet graphite, and silicone injection molding.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Previous work experience in a plant or production environment.
- Lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis using proper lifting techniques.
- Work with small hand tools, including routers, die grinders, band saws, and Dremel tools for layup and assembly tasks.
- Use basic mathematics skills and precision measuring tools to support layup and assembly processes.
- Attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills
