Enterprise Software Architect

- Define and maintain the enterprise application architecture roadmap aligned with business and product objectives
- Lead the design of scalable, reliable, and secure application systems across the enterprise
- Drive modernization initiatives across APIs, microservices, frontend and backend platforms, and integrations
- Design and build proofs of concept (POCs) to validate architectural decisions and demonstrate implementation approaches to engineering teams
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to ensure architectural decisions support scalability, performance, security, and maintainability
- Establish and document architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices (HLDs, LLDs, reference architectures)
- Ensure systems are designed for high availability, resiliency, and optimal performance
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to senior engineers and technical leads across large development teams
- Maintain a strong focus on application security, ensuring architectural designs account for availability, resiliency, and common threat scenarios
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, with 5+ years in an architecture, staff engineer, or principal-level role
- Proven experience designing enterprise-scale application architectures (beyond single POCs or migrations)
- Ability to operate at both a high-level architectural view and implementation-level detail when needed
- React (required)
- Next.js (acceptable/preferred)
- Node.js (required)
- Experience designing systems using Java and/or C#/.NET (strongly preferred)
- SQL and NoSQL data stores
- Event-driven and messaging-based architectures (e.g., Kafka or similar technologies)
- API design and integration strategy
- Cloud-native, microservices-based application architectures
- Performance optimization, caching strategies, and observability practices
- Designing systems for scalability, resiliency, and high availability
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
