This role oversees capital planning, project engineering, process improvements, and all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance to ensure alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. The Engineering & Safety Manager drives continuous improvement and ensures that all engineering and safety programs support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Organization is a bio‑based chemical manufacturer specializing in more than 80 fatty acid and glycerin products, serving the North American oleochemical market from its deep‑water facility near Boston. The company focuses on sustainable, high‑quality production supported by capabilities in hydrolysis, distillation, and hydrogenation, and provides solutions across industries such as personal care, food, cosmetics, and plastics

Description

Engineering Leadership

  • Oversee engineering activities, including planning, development, and implementation of capital projects.
  • Develop and manage the annual capital expenditure (CAPEX) budget.
  • Lead engineering design reviews, project scheduling, cost tracking, and contractor coordination.
  • Identify and execute process improvement initiatives to increase reliability, efficiency, and asset performance.
  • Ensure proper maintenance engineering support, including root cause analysis and equipment optimization.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, including P&IDs, drawings, specifications, and equipment records.

Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Oversee EH&S programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, DEP, etc.).
  • Oversee safety training, emergency response, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and enhance safety management systems, hazard assessments, and workplace safety standards.
  • Develop proactive risk‑reduction strategies to create a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.

Team Management

  • Direct, coach, and develop the Engineering and EH&S teams, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
  • Allocate resources and assign priorities to support production, maintenance, and capital projects.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Leadership teams to support reliability and long‑term strategic goals.
  • Serve as technical advisor on engineering, safety, and regulatory matters.
  • Represent the facility in audits, inspections, and meetings with regulatory agencies.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive engineering and management experience.
  • Experience managing capital projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and EPA/DEP environmental regulations.
  • Leadership and team‑building skills with the ability to influence across departments.
  • Must be accessible as operational needs arise.

Job Offer
