Provide Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing services to our Department of War (DoW) Research & Development customer at our customer's site.  Work may expand to include Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), comprehensive Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) services to a wide variety of DoW customers.

Essential Job Functions:

Write EMI test procedures and perform onsite testing.

Provide instruction to customer engineers to teach them how to conduct EMI testing.

Review technical documents (ICDs, Mechanical drawings, requirements, performance specifications, test plans and test reports) and provide feedback to our customers related to EMI/EMC matters.

Identify EMI/EMC risks and issues and provide recommended resolutions to our customers for those risks and issues.

Develop and/or provide input to plans of execution to include scope, budget, resource needs, material needs and schedule.

Perform requirements analysis and provide input to the design, implementation, test and installation of electrical and electromechanical subsystems onto combat vehicle system.

Perform project management duties and create related documents to support these efforts.

Develop and review engineering and contractual Scopes of Work (SOWs) for prime contractor. Interface daily with customers and other DoD organizations to solve problems.

No travel is immediately anticipated with this role.  In the future, up to 10-15% travel could be necessary as the work expands to other customers which could require travel to DoW test centers (APG, YPG, EPG, etc).

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ideally electrical or RF engineering) plus at least 12 years of experience. 

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Familiar with MIL-STD 461 and MIL-STD 464 or other EMC commercial/industrial standards.

Understand how to operate RF-based instruments such as a spectrum analyzer, EMI receiver, oscilloscope, signal generator, network analyzer, etc.

Understand and adhere to electrical safety requirements in an electrical/electronic laboratory.

Understand the basics of EMC (source, coupling path, receiver) and the different types of EMC problems i.e., conducted/radiated susceptibility, conducted/radiated emissions, electrostatic discharge, etc.

Understand basic units used in EMC e.g., dB, dBµV/m, dBµA, dBΩ, etc. and be able to work in these units.

Experience with antenna cosite analysis and radio frequency (RF) desensitization.

Expertise in electromagnetic Interference (EMI), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), Electrical Environmental Effects (E3) and spectrum supportability.

Written and verbal communications skills suitable for the role.

Ability and interest in teaching others.

Desired Skills:

Experience with the ground combat vehicles.

Experience working with TACOM, GVSC, and other PM offices within the Army Materiel Command.
