Job Summary
The Emergency Department Nurse Manager has 24 hour accountability for the daily operations in the nursing unit, serving as a role model and leader. The Emergency Department Nurse Manager oversees and coordinates the emergency care provided by the department and assists the Emergency Department Director with staff development, oversees competencies, assists with quality and risk programs and promotes Jennie Stuart Health goals, philosophies, policies and procedures.

Occasional sitting, standing, walking, lifting +/-35lbs, raising and lowering objects +/- 35lbs from one level to another, pushing/pulling, and bending/stooping.

Essential Functions
- Clinical Practice
- Directs and coordinates emergency care provided within the department.
- Directs department functions.
- Assists Director with coordination and completion of employee orientation process.
- Maintains equipment.
- Implements and maintains infection control measures.
- Monitors employee productivity.
- Oversees working scheduling.
- Assists with quality improvement efforts.
- Complies with hospital, State, Federal and JCAHO regulations.

- Procures and distributes medication from secure locations per work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.

Minimum Education
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing. BSN preferred.
Required Licensure
- Currently licensed in the State of Kentucky or Compact State as a Registered Nurse and in good standing.

- Prior management in the Emergency Department setting, preferred.
