Avail Staffing is actively looking for Marine Electrician Technicians I, II, III, and IV that will support shipyard operations by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic systems aboard various naval and commercial vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine electronics, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented shipyard environment.

Marine Electrician – III

Position Summary:
As a Marine Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex electrical systems aboard naval and commercial vessels. You are expected to work independently with minimal supervision and mentor junior electricians as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and test high/low voltage shipboard electrical systems (power generation, lighting, motors, switchboards)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues using diagnostic tools
  • Perform terminations, splicing, and cable pulls
  • Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and operational tests
  • Ensure compliance with NAVSEA, OSHA, and company safety standards
  • Lead small crews or assist foremen in project execution

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of marine electrical experience
  • Strong blueprint/schematic reading skills
  • Proficient with multimeters, meggers, and other diagnostic tools
  • Familiarity with MIL-SPEC standards and shipboard cable types

Marine Electrician – II

Position Summary:
The 2nd Class Marine Electrician is responsible for supporting the installation and repair of shipboard electrical systems under the guidance of senior electricians. This role requires a good working knowledge of standard practices and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the installation of conduit, cable trays, and shipboard wiring
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and component replacement
  • Help test equipment and systems for functionality and safety
  • Interpret basic schematics and diagrams
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
  • Support safety initiatives and maintain a clean work area

Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of marine electrical experience
  • Ability to follow schematics and supervisor instructions
  • Basic knowledge of testing equipment and shipboard electrical systems
  • Familiar with safety procedures in a shipyard environment

Marine Electrician – I

Position Summary:
The 3rd Class Marine Electrician is an entry-level position focused on gaining experience in shipboard electrical work. This role includes hands-on assistance with installations, pulling cable, and prepping components under close supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pull cable and assist with cable routing and termination prep
  • Set up job materials and tools
  • Clean and prep areas for electrical installations
  • Shadow senior electricians and learn industry practices
  • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a safe work environment

Qualifications:

  • 1–2 years of electrical experience (marine experience preferred)
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Basic understanding of hand and power tools
  • High school diploma or equivalent
