Education
Two (2) year college degree in a technical science or trade, or equivalent work experience
Completion of a three (3) year electrical apprenticeship, required
Experience
Five (5)+ years of experience installing and maintaining commercial or industrial electrical distribution systems, required
Healthcare facility experience, highly preferred
Licensure / Certification
Valid city/county journeyman’s card and/or state electrician’s license, required
Valid Driver’s License in the state of employment, required
Required Skills
Strong working knowledge of life safety, electrical, and building codes
Extensive experience with electrical systems, equipment, and devices
Advanced troubleshooting skills for electrical and electronic systems
In-depth knowledge of emergency power systems, generators, and transfer switches
Proficiency using electrical testing equipment
Ability to read and apply electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
Ability to work effectively as part of a team-oriented maintenance department
Professional communication skills when working around patients, visitors, and staff
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of mechanical equipment operation and repair
Strong computer skills and familiarity with PC-based programs
Ability to hear and recognize changes in machine or equipment sounds
Perform advanced electrical maintenance, repair, and installation work across hospital facilities
Maintain and support electrical distribution systems, switchgear, motor control centers, and related equipment
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot emergency generator systems and automatic transfer switches
Apply and ensure compliance with life safety, electrical, and building codes
Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems, including A/C-related electrical components
Read and interpret technical service manuals, electrical schematics, and blueprints
Use electrical testing devices to evaluate system performance and safety
Support preventive maintenance programs to extend the service life of facility assets
Collaborate closely with Plant Engineering leadership and maintenance team members
Interact professionally and respectfully with patients, visitors, and clinical staff in a healthcare environment
