This position focuses on testing, validating, and improving sophisticated hardware and embedded firmware systems. The role includes test planning, automation development, firmware debugging, hardware integration testing, and cross‑functional collaboration. You'll work closely with hardware and firmware teams to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and quality standards.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop and code test cases to validate hardware and firmware functionality and performance
- Execute automated tests on embedded systems and hardware components
- Design and implement test automation frameworks, tools, and scripts
- Perform detailed debugging of firmware issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test instruments
- Test PCBs, sensors, communication interfaces, and other hardware components while integrating them with firmware
- Identify and isolate hardware‑ and firmware‑related issues and provide feedback to engineering
- Prepare detailed test reports outlining defects and recommendations
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, firmware developers, and project managers
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements and stay informed on modern test methodologies
- Adhere to all workplace safety and quality standards
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- BSEE from an ABET‑accredited program
- Strong understanding of circuit design, analysis, and common electronic circuits (amplifiers, regulators, switches, filters, etc.)
- Proficiency with embedded firmware (C/C++), hardware design, and AC/DC electrical theory
- Skilled with oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, and common diagnostic tools
- Familiar with schematic capture, IDEs, and CAD tools
- Hands‑on ability with tools and electronics troubleshooting
- Knowledge of component selection, evaluation, and general manufacturing processes for PCBs and electromechanical assemblies
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within cross‑disciplinary engineering teams
- Preferred: familiarity with CAN/USB/Ethernet, embedded Linux, wireless protocols (Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth), Jira/Confluence, SVN/Git
