Position Overview
As an Electrical Final Assembly Foreman, you are responsible for leading and overseeing the installation, assembly, and integration of all electrical systems within passenger rail vehicles. This role ensures all electrical work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with internal quality standards and customer specifications.
You will lead a team of electrical assemblers while actively participating in hands-on assembly, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts to deliver high-quality, state-of-the-art railcars.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
Lead, supervise, and support a team of electrical assemblers in final assembly operations
Train and mentor team members on proper electrical assembly procedures, tools, and safety practices
Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure production schedules are met
Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
Electrical Assembly & Installation
Oversee and perform installation of electrical systems including:
Wiring harnesses and cable routing
Electrical panels, circuit breakers, and control systems
Passenger communication systems, lighting, and auxiliary systems
Ensure proper assembly of electrical units, subassemblies, and support structures
Perform and support mechanical installation related to electrical components (mounting brackets, racks, etc.)
Interpret and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and work instructions
Quality & Compliance
Ensure all electrical installations meet internal quality standards and customer specifications
Inspect work for defects and ensure proper corrections are completed
Support testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electrical systems
Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve technical or production issues
Production & Coordination
Monitor production schedules and implement process improvements to increase efficiency
Coordinate with materials, logistics, and inventory teams to ensure availability of parts and components
Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation
Participate in production meetings to review goals, timelines, and performance
Safety
Enforce all safety regulations, policies, and procedures
Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment
Promote a safe and clean working environment at all times
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical assembly or manufacturing environment
Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience
Strong ability to read and interpret:
Electrical schematics
Wiring diagrams
Technical drawings and work instructions
Hands-on experience with:
Wiring, cabling, and electrical installations
Hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
High attention to detail with strong commitment to safety and quality
Preferred
IPC certification (or similar electrical assembly certification)
Experience in rail, transportation, or heavy manufacturing industries
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Physical Requirements
Standing and walking for up to 8 hours per shift
Lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance
Frequent bending, kneeling, twisting, pushing, and pulling
Work Environment
Manufacturing/production facility environment
Primarily indoor work with occasional exposure to varying temperatures
