Position Summary A leading defense manufacturing firm in Morris County is seeking an Electrical Engineer to drive the design and development of next-generation aerospace solutions. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will act as a technical lead on new product initiatives, providing subject matter expertise in embedded systems and hardware architecture. This role balances hands-on technical analysis with high-level project coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Embedded Systems Design: Lead the design and implementation of embedded processor control platforms for complex aerospace equipment.
Systems Architecture: Develop hardware systems with a focus on EMI/RFI compliance and power distribution.
Testing & Compliance: Conduct investigative and qualification testing to meet rigorous military and aviation standards.
Technical Documentation: Author formal engineering reports, specifications, and contract documents required for long-term development programs.
Cross-Functional Support: Partner with the production floor to troubleshoot electrical components and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to meet project milestones.
Stakeholder Interaction: Work directly with customers and subcontractors to ensure technical objectives align with project goals.
Required Qualifications
Education: B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Technical Expertise: Strong background in analog and processor-based motion controls and aerospace actuators.
Software Tools: Familiarity with Altium Designer, OrCAD, or similar PCB design software.
Industry Standards: Knowledge of RTCA DO-254, DO-160, MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-461.
Communication Protocols: Experience with SPI, Ethernet, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1551, or CAN Bus.
Communication: Superior verbal and written skills for preparing technical specifications and interfacing with clients.
