Electrical Engineer - Power electronics/ Magnetics/ ATRU Specialist - USA

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Power Electronics / Electrical Engineer with deep aerospace power-conversion experience to support a front-end aircraft electrical power interface study.
This engagement focuses on analysis, concept development, and trade studies rather than full hardware product build. The outcome will guide architecture decisions for a next-generation aircraft platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct trade studies comparing 4–5 front-end power conversion topologies

• Assess size, weight, performance, cost, and risk implications of each option

• Evaluate output power requirements across different rectifier / ATRU approaches

• Perform concept-level modeling and feasibility analysis

• Produce structured comparison matrices and technical recommendations

• Interface with engineering leadership and project leads on a regular cadence

• Support architecture and risk discussions with data-driven analysis

Required Experience

• 10–15+ years in Power Electronics / Electrical Engineering

• Direct experience with ATRUs (Auto-Transformer Rectifier Units) or equivalent aircraft AC-DC conversion systems

• Background in active and passive rectification

• Familiarity with aircraft electrical power systems and front-end conversion architectures

• Experience operating in early-phase or partially defined requirements environments

• Strong analytical and documentation skills

Technical Knowledge

• DO-160 environmental standards

• Harmonic distortion and power quality mitigation

• EMI / EMC / HERF robustness considerations

• Three-phase AC-DC conversion and high-power rectifier design

• Trade study / architecture evaluation methodologies
