Electrical Engineer, PE

Job Description

The Electrical Engineering position is for a licensed professional with multiple areas of technical expertise. This position supports projects with bidding, performance, checking, and production / quality management duties related with medium and low voltage power distribution in industrial facilities. This position will work closely with I&C Engineering, IE&C design, and field positions. This position will be part of a combined IE&C team.

Accountabilities:

  • Serve as Electrical Engineer of Record for medium and large scope industrial facility EPC projects, including technical direction and sealing of electrical design documents and studies
  • Perform thorough and professional engineering duties, including consultation, engineering design, equipment selection, coordination, safety review, planning, checking, and others as needed
  • Leadership to promote and develop abilities of team members
  • Regularly lead, audit, and provide direction to project teams (including supervisory responsibility when needed)
  • Work directly with clients to develop and execute projects
  • Develop proposals for new projects
  • Provide written project progress reports for clients and management as appropriate
  • Manage tasks as assigned by Supervisor

  • Strong understanding of medium and low voltage power distribution in industrial facilities is required
  • Ability to give technical direction to technical and non-technical coworkers and subcontractors is required
  • Ability to interact directly with clients and manage stakeholder relations
  • Ability to make independent, significant decisions on projects
  • Ability to direct a team to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget
  • SKM or ETAP modeling software experience strongly preferred
  • Power company negotiation skills a strong plus
  • Knowledge and experience of low and medium voltage three-phase motor control equipment, including reduced voltage and variable frequency drives, is required
  • Good understanding of instrumentation and controls is required
  • Knowledge and experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in multiple areas
  • Knowledge of the processes and operations of oil and gas treatment and processing a strong plus
  • Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office products such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Projects
  • Must protect confidentiality of information as required
  • Must be a good teacher of skills and ideas

Experience/Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer license (multiple states preferred)
  • Minimum of ten (10) years oil and gas experience as an engineer

Operational Requirements:
  • Must be skilled in working with people
  • Travel 10-20% of the time
  • Must be focused on safety
  • Sitting at a computer for up to eight (8) hours or longer per day in an office
  • Visitation of refineries, chemical plants, drilling platforms, manufacturing plants, gas processing plants, and pipelines during construction and operation phases
  • Climbing as needed to access process towers and equipment for both ladders and stairs.
  • Must be able to carry at least 20 pounds for 1/4 mile
  • Must be able to create easily understandable, accurate, and correct documents and e-mails
  • Must be able to work in refineries, chemical plants, gas processing plants, and other potentially hazardous processing plants
  • Must be able to utilize hotels, restaurants, public transportation (airlines, buses, rail, subways, etc.) and navigate unfamiliar roads and cities
