Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer III to support the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical systems for large‑scale industrial infrastructure. This role focuses on power distribution, high‑voltage equipment, electrical safety, and system reliability across facilities such as compressor stations, pipelines, storage sites, or similar industrial environments.

As an Engineer III, you will contribute to engineering design packages, perform power system studies, support project execution, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. You will also assist with field support, commissioning activities, and the implementation of electrical safety programs. This role offers opportunities for technical growth, mentorship, and increasing responsibility over time.

The role begins in Pittsburgh, PA, with an expected relocation to either Tulsa, OK or Houston, TX after approximately two years, based on business needs. Candidates must be willing and able to relocate as part of the role.

Requirements:

Electrical System Design & Analysis

  • Support the design and optimization of power distribution systems for industrial facilities.
  • Prepare electrical schematics, system layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Perform power system modeling and analysis using tools such as ETAP, PSCAD, MATLAB, or Simulink.
  • Assist in evaluating and integrating technologies such as automation, monitoring, and energy storage.

Safety, Compliance & Reliability

  • Review arc flash studies and support implementation of mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE, and other applicable electrical design and safety standards.
  • Contribute to fault detection, protection coordination, and system reliability improvements.

Project Execution

  • Support engineering tasks throughout project phases, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Assist with vendor evaluations and procurement of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Participate in FAT, testing, and startup activities to verify system performance and compliance.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with operations, mechanical, civil, and instrumentation teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical support to field personnel and construction teams.
  • Offer guidance to junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail. 
  • Willingness to relocate after approximately two years.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and support team development.
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong experience with: Power distribution system design, High‑voltage equipment (transformers, generators, switchgear), Arc flash analysis and electrical safety compliance and NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE standards.
  • Proficiency with power system modeling tools (ETAP, PSCAD, MATLAB, Simulink)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology from an ABET‑accredited institution with a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in natural gas, data centers, industrial power systems, or related infrastructure.

Preferred Skills:

  • Project management experience.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation systems.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, FAT, and startup activities.
  • Background in Pre‑FEED, FEED, or EPC project environments.
