We’re looking for a driven Electrical Engineer who thrives in a dynamic industrial environment and enjoys a mix of hands-on problem solving, project management, and technical leadership.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will be a key technical leader supporting mill-wide initiatives with a focus on capital projects, reliability, and electrical power systems. You will:
Lead Critical Projects
- Conduct front-end engineering and feasibility studies for high?impact capital projects.
- Build and maintain strategic capital and major repair plans that support evolving mill needs.
- Manage multiple projects from concept through commissioning, delivering on safety, quality, cost, and schedule.
Be the Electrical Power Systems Expert
Use your engineering acumen to support, design, and troubleshoot systems including:
- Turbine generators & auxiliary systems
- 13.8kV power distribution
- Digital (Schweitzer) & electromechanical relay protection
- Transmission lines (MET1 & MET2)
- Electrical bus and breaker maintenance
- Arc flash analysis & compliance
- PLCs, DCS, AC/DC drives, and industrial control systems
Drive Safety & Reliability
- Champion facility-level safety and environmental initiatives.
- Ensure all engineering and maintenance work aligns with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve complex mill issues and prevent future downtime.
Collaborate & Influence
- Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Legal, Finance, and external contractors.
- Support contractual negotiations, budgeting, tax considerations, and financial justifications.
- Mentor junior engineers, interns, and co-ops.
- Lead or participate on cross-functional teams that shape mill operations.
Keep Us Organized & Prepared
- Maintain engineering documentation and capital asset records.
What You Bring
Experience
- 3–10 years of engineering experience in manufacturing—ideally pulp & paper, power generation, or heavy industry.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- P.E. or PMP is a plus.
Technical Strengths
- Strong understanding of power generation and electrical distribution up to 13.8kV.
- Familiarity with relay protection, AC/DC drives, arc flash studies, DCS/PLC systems (no programming required).
- Experience reading and preparing engineering drawings, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, single-line diagrams, and more.
- Knowledge of process control instrumentation (temperature, flow, pH, conductivity, etc.).
- NFPA 70E training preferred.
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership presence with a track record of driving results.
- Excellent communication skills—able to translate complex issues into clear, actionable information.
- Confident presenting technical information to operations, maintenance, and management teams.
Tools & Systems
- Microsoft Office & MS Project
- SAP/SAP Project Systems (preferred)
- AutoCAD (intermediate proficiency)
