Position: Electrical Engineer

The Company: NAPCO Security Technologies, Inc., headquartered in Amityville, Long Island NY, is a world-wide leader in the manufacturing of electronic security systems for over 45 years is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering group. 

Responsibilities:

  • Digital and analog circuit design.
  • Small power supply designs (to 48VDC and up to 10A) using IC switchers.
  • Analog design skills for interfacing to signal initiating input and output devices.
  • Battery charging circuits (NiMH, Gel Cell) 
  • Designing to and testing compliance to FCC standards.
  • Knowledge of any of the following standards is a plus:  UL294, UL864, UL985, UL2610.
  • Familiar with 8–32-bit microprocessor architectures, selection, design, and integration.
  • Strong skills in communications standards: Ethernet, RS232, RS422, RS485, I2C, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and SPI.
  • Knowledge of RF radio circuitry and measurement from 300MHz - 1GHz a plus.
  • Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, testing, and selecting components for new designs.
  • Liaising other engineers and departments to ensure projects are completed to specifications.
  • Proficient with Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzers, logic analyzers and ESD testing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Master's degree a plus.
  • Extensive practical experience and proven track record in product design.
  • Proficient with schematic entry CAD software (PADs V2.4) and PCB layout review tools.
  • Practical experience with PSpice and simulation tools a plus.
  • Proficient PC skills to create component documentation, test specs, part sheets and ECNs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent motivational skills and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
