Additional Information
This is an entry-level position; no prior engineering or design experience is required.
Responsibilities include preparing detailed design drawings for electric utility substation projects using AutoCAD and associated add‑on tools, including raster editing applications. Additional software used includes Microsoft 365, BlueBeam Revu, and Adobe Creative tools.
Design deliverables cover a broad range of substation engineering documentation, including:
High‑Voltage Substation Design
- Equipment layout drawings for high-voltage switchyards
- Grounding grid system design and associated plans
- Conduit routing, raceway design, and underground infrastructure drawings
System Protection & SCADA Documentation
- Protection, control, monitoring, automation, and metering schematic diagrams
- Integration drawings for SCADA systems and RTU/IED configurations
Panel, Switchboard & Relay Rack Design
- Switchboard, relay rack, and control panel elevations and layout drawings
- Detailed wiring diagrams for protection and control circuits
Client Coordination & Field Work
- Participate in on-site meetings at substations with client representatives
- Engage in technical discussions to define project scope, clarify requirements, and resolve design issues
This entry-level Electrical Design Engineer role provides a strong foundation in substation engineering and the operation of electric power systems.
The position is integral to developing substation designs and requires regular collaboration with utility professional, equipment vendors, and cross‑disciplinary teams—including structural and civil engineers.
