Position Summary
The Mechanical & Electrical Assembler is responsible for assembling, wiring, installing, and testing aerospace components and subassemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and regulatory requirements. This role supports both manufacturing and FAA Part 145 repair station activities.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of aerospace assembly experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to interpret technical documentation while maintaining strict quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
1 Mechanical Assembly
- Assemble mechanical components, brackets, housings, and structural assemblies per engineering drawings.
- Install hardware, including fasteners, rivets, inserts, and fittings.
- Perform torquing, safety wiring, and mechanical adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace workmanship standards.
2 Electrical Assembly & Wiring
- Perform wire harness assembly, routing, termination, and installation.
- Crimp, strip, solder, and terminate connectors per specifications.
- Interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Perform continuity and basic electrical testing.
3 Repair Station Support
- Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, support, and reassembly of aerospace components.
- Follow approved repair station procedures and documentation.
- Ensure proper traceability of parts and materials.
- Support return-to-service documentation as applicable.
4 Documentation & Compliance
- Follow work orders, travelers, and work instructions.
- Record labor accurately.
- Identify and report nonconformances.
- Maintain compliance with:
- AS9100 requirements
- FAA Part 145 regulations
- Customer specifications
5 Tooling & Equipment
- Use calibrated tools (torque wrenches, crimp tools, multimeters, etc.).
- Verify calibration status prior to use.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area (FOD control).
6 Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Follow company safety procedures.
- Participate in toolbox talks and required training.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years aerospace mechanical and/or electrical assembly experience
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing or FAA repair station environment
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Engineering drawings
- Wiring diagrams
- Work instructions
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team-based production environment
Preferred Qualifications
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification (or equivalent wiring experience)
- Soldering experience (aerospace standard preferred)
- Familiarity with torque procedures and hardware installation standards
