Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment according to work instructions and specifications.
- Load, align, and secure workpieces, electrodes, and fixtures onto the machine accurately.
- Monitor machining processes, adjusting parameters such as power, pulse duration, and flush pressure to optimize performance and part quality.
- Interpret engineering blueprints, CAD models, and G-code programs for machining operations.
- Perform in-process and final inspections of machined parts using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and CMM.
- Conduct routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of EDM machinery to ensure continuous operation.
- Document production data, machine settings, and quality control results accurately.
Recommended Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience operating EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges for quality inspection.
- Strong mechanical aptitude for machine setup, tooling adjustments, and basic troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of various materials (e.g., steel, carbide, graphite) and their properties relevant to EDM processes.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to quality control standards.
Bonus Qualifications
- Proficiency with CAM software for electrode design or programming.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance or minor troubleshooting on EDM equipment.
- Demonstrated experience with other precision machining processes (e.g., CNC milling, grinding).
- Familiarity with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
