Job Summary
Join an international transit manufacturer and parts distributor as a Field Service Technician. This role involves providing electrical and mechanical expertise for high voltage electric, CNG, and clean diesel transit buses. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience in electrical, HVAC, or a related field, with experience in buses, trains, automobiles, military vehicles, heavy equipment, or aircraft.
Responsibilities
- Work with advanced electric vehicle and hydrogen fuel cell technology, troubleshooting electronic, electrical, and high voltage issues.
- Install electrical systems and components in transit vehicles.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic and mechanical equipment.
- Repair or replace parts, light fixtures, wiring, finder relays, motors, and other electrical equipment.
- Identify and troubleshoot electrical problems using testing devices such as ammeters, voltmeters, multimeters, and cable testers.
- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in electrical, HVAC, or a related field.
- Thorough knowledge of 12V, 24V, 600V, and air conditioning systems.
- Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of multi-plex systems.
- Ability to work from blueprints, process sheets, schematics, and instructions.
- Electrical troubleshooting skills and experience.
- Experience with electrical wiring, circuit testing, troubleshooting, and general repair.
- Solid customer service skills.
- PLC and ladder logic experience preferred.
- General knowledge of transit bus/hybrid and/or electric drive systems is ideal but not necessary.
Schedule
M-F from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM (some overtime may be required).
Additional Information
Travel to various depots required (Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan). Technicians must provide tools, a laptop, and use their personal vehicle for travel.
