Description

 

The Director of Strategic Communications is a hands-on leader responsible for shaping and disseminating the enterprise narrative of Temple Health. Reporting to the AVP of Communications, and working collaboratively with peers, executives, faculty members, and partners across the health system and University, this role blends strategic leadership with active execution setting strategic direction while personally driving high-impact work.

The Director owns the organization's narrative architecture and is responsible for message delivery across internal and external channels. Playing a central role in issues management, brand positioning, and crisis response, the Director manages a focused, high-performing team and works in close partnership with Media Relations, Editorial & Content, Brand, Marketing, Digital, Advancement and enterprise leaders to ensure communications are aligned, timely, and impactful.

This role ensures clarity, consistency, and strategic intent across all communications and messaging, translating complex clinical, operational, and workforce issues into clear, credible communications that align to enterprise priorities.

Education
Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field Required
Master's Degree Preferred

Experience
8 years of progressive experience in strategic communications, public affairs, internal or executive communications, preferably in healthcare, higher education, or similarly complex, mission-driven organizations Required

3 years' experience in team leadership Preferred
