We're Hiring!

We are seeking aDirector of Philanthropy and Community Engagement to serve as a key leadership team member. This position is responsible forsupporting our public relations, corporate and individual gifts, and fundraising efforts; working closely with our team members, board of directors, and volunteers to achieve agency goals through enhanced community awareness and fundraising efforts; and overseeing the Philanthropy and Communication team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive agency-wide marketing and communications strategy that advances program visibility, strengthens community partnerships, and supports fundraising and engagement initiatives.
  • Cultivate, steward, and expand relationships with individual donors, foundations, and community partners to achieve and exceed annual philanthropic revenue goals.
  • Serve as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing strategic insight and leadership to advance the agency's mission, long-term growth, and organizational priorities.
  • Partner closely with the Executive Leader to manage and strengthen development operations, including accurate donor records, pledge tracking, gift acknowledgements, and contact management systems.
  • Implement data-driven, donor-centered fundraising strategies, including prospect identification, cultivation planning, proposal development, and staying current with philanthropic trends and best practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with program leaders, finance, and administrative staff to align communications, community engagement, and fundraising efforts with agency goals and impact.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Required:Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or a related field.

Experience:

  • Required:Minimum of 5 years of progressive donor development and fundraising experience with a minimum of years in a leadership role.
  • Preferred:Previousfundraising, marketing, and communications experience preferred. 3+ years of supervisory experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated success in expanding and cultivating donor relationships.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to influence and engage a wide range of volunteers and donors and build long-term relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are critical to success as well as the ability to impact both strategic and tactical fundraising efforts.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License with reliable personal vehicle. Maintain required auto insurance and acceptable driving record requirements.

In collaboration with others, the mission of Family Service is to provide quality programs and services, which effectively assist and strengthen individuals and families in our community. Family Service provides more than 5,000,000 meals each year through a USDA food program in 85 Nebraska counties. This program feeds almost 21,000 children in more than 1,312 licensed home child-care facilities. Family Service delivers the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program to 3,000 people in Lancaster County each month. Services include nutrition and breast feeding education as well as formula, milk and other staples. Family Service cares for more than 1,700 children who take part in our child care and early childhood programs based in 20 Lincoln Public Schools. Family Service counsels families and individuals with behavioral health sessions at 13 specific local schools. Family Service Early Childhood and Youth Development programs granted over $694,000 in free and reduced rate scholarships to children during 2011-2012 school year.
