Director of Student Services

The Director of Student Services provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for all student support programs across Liberty Union High School District. This position ensures that comprehensive services are delivered to promote student academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, equity, access, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
The Director collaborates closely with district leadership, school administrators, families, and community partners to support a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration
Develop, implement, and oversee district-wide student services programs and initiatives.
Provide leadership for special education, counseling services, health services, attendance, and student discipline systems.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations (e.g., IDEA, Section 504, Title IX).
Supervise and evaluate student services personnel, including program directors, counselors, psychologists, and support staff.
Prepare and manage departmental budgets and grants.
Student Support & Equity
Promote equitable access to educational programs and services.
Oversee intervention programs to support at-risk students.
Lead initiatives focused on social-emotional learning (SEL) and mental health services.
Support implementation of restorative practices and positive behavior systems.
Collaboration & Communication
Serve as liaison between the district and outside agencies, community organizations, and families.
Advise the Superintendent and Board of Trustees on student services matters.
Facilitate professional development for staff related to student services and compliance.
Participate in district leadership meetings and strategic planning efforts.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and monitoring of student services programs.
Lead program evaluations and continuous improvement efforts.
Respond to complaints, mediations, and due process proceedings as needed.
