Position: Director of Sterile Processing
Location: Asheville, NC
Position Type: Full-Time (Permanent)
Schedule: Days with Rotating Weekends
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $110,000 – $170,000 (based on experience)
- Incentive Bonus: Up to 17.5%
- Sign-On Bonus: Case-by-case basis
- Relocation Assistance: Starting at $5,000
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Sterile Processing to provide strategic and operational leadership for a high-volume Sterile Processing Department. Reporting to senior perioperative leadership, this role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant sterile processing services across multiple clinical departments.
The ideal candidate will lead large teams, drive quality and performance improvement initiatives, and collaborate across departments to support surgical and clinical operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Sterile Processing Department.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, sterilization standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee staffing, recruitment, training, and competency validation of department personnel.
- Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with departments including OR, Endoscopy, CVOR, L&D, and ambulatory services.
- Manage departmental budget, resources, and equipment needs.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support hospital initiatives and represent the department internally and externally.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Nursing, or related field
OR - Completion of a two-year Surgical Technology program
Certifications:
- CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician)
OR - CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)
- IAHCSMM Certification required
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of Sterile Processing experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Central Sterile Processing
- Experience in large acute care hospital settings required
- Proven experience managing large teams (metrics must be included on resume)
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- In-depth knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile processing workflows
- Expertise in infection control and aseptic techniques
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments
- Proficiency with computer systems and workflow tools
Additional Requirements:
- Acute care experience is mandatory
- Experience leading large teams in high-volume facilities required
