Overview
We are partnering with a growing technology organization to identify a Director of Revenue Accounting to lead the strategy, execution, and scaling of the company’s revenue accounting function. This role is highly visible and plays a critical part in supporting organic growth and acquisitions while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.
The Director will serve as the organization’s subject‑matter expert on ASC 606, work cross‑functionally with Finance, Sales, and Field teams, and own revenue accounting accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy to build and scale the revenue accounting team, tools, processes, and internal controls to support long‑term growth.
- Serve as the primary authority on revenue recognition matters, including assessment and documentation of complex customer arrangements under ASC 606.
- Partner closely with Finance, Sales, Legal, and Field teams to clearly communicate GAAP revenue implications of contract terms and deal structures.
- Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in NetSuite for each reporting period.
- Review billing configurations and workflows to ensure revenue is processed correctly and efficiently.
- Prepare and review accounting memos supporting significant and complex revenue transactions.
- Standardize and simplify revenue processes across multiple revenue streams.
- Train and mentor members of the revenue accounting team and provide ASC 606 guidance across the organization.
- Play a key role in revenue accounting due diligence for acquisitions and lead post‑close integration of revenue processes and policies.
- Continuously assess, refine, and enhance internal controls related to revenue transactions.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive, senior‑level revenue accounting experience within the IT, SaaS, or technology industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Deep, hands‑on experience with ASC 606, including:
- Identification of performance obligations in multi‑element arrangements
- Gross vs. net assessments
- Cloud‑based and SaaS solutions
- Costs to acquire and costs to fulfill
- Strong working experience in NetSuite.
