Salary Range $130,000 to $150,000 a year
The Director of Wellness is responsible for the resident care management and oversight of all clinical programs within the community. The Director collaborates with residents, families, healthcare providers and staff to provide quality care and ensure regulatory requirements. The Director provides supervision and support to the nursing staff. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the nursing service department as well as its programs and activities in accordance with current rules and regulations and guidelines that govern the assisted living communities.
- Develop and maintain methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services, including outside providers, to ensure the continuity of the resident's total regimen of care.
- Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as directed.
- Collect, review and analyze clinical outcome data and determine trends.
- Attend and provide clinical outcome data trends at the QAPI committee meeting monthly.
- Participate in the QAPI Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
- Assist in planning for resident admissions and discharges, including external assessments and medication review.
- Provide oversight of medication management in the community to include medication education with residents, families and staff.
- Serve on, participate in and attend various committees of the facility as appointed by the Executive Director.
- Determine and monitor the staffing needs of the nursing department and ensure the assignment of appropriate and adequate numbers of nursing staff daily for each shift to ensure that the needs of the residents are met.
- Review annually at a minimum, all nursing services policies and procedures.
- Participate in the interviewing process and select, with the Executive Director's approval, all clinical support candidates to include, but not limited to, nurses, CHHA's and CMA's.
- Ensure yearly written performance evaluation of all nursing staff.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and conducting in service training programs that relate to the nursing department.
- Ensure that there are adequate supplies for resident care.
- Ensure that medical and nursing care is administered in accordance with the resident's wishes and per the individualized care plan.
- In coordination with the Executive Director, prepare, plan and adhere to the nursing services budget.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
- Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect and resident rights are maintained.
- Maintain a liaison with the residents, their families and support departments to adequately plan for the resident's needs, including but not limited to care conferences regularly.
Position Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing institution.
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse license within the state of employment.
- CPR and First Aid Certified
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Assisted Living community.
- Excellent communication skills to engage residents, family and staff.
- Understand senior care needs.
- Strong leadership skills to lead, manage and mentor staff.
- Strong clinical assessment skills.
