The Director of Mortgage Originations serves as a strategic leader responsible for driving customer experience excellence, expanding market share, and elevating organizational performance. The role oversees UCM Retail Mortgage Sales leaders to execute priority growth strategies, optimize sales team performance, and strengthen the organization’s overall value proposition. Key leadership responsibilities include shaping and implementing strategic sales objectives, overseeing performance and coaching across regions, leading recruitment and retention of high‑performing sales talent, and expanding new business development to increase revenue while consistently exceeding customer expectations.
What You’ll Do:- Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develop and refine mortgage sales strategies aligned with financial goals, customer experience expectations, CRA objectives, and brand messaging.
- Assess competitive conditions, internal resources, and market trends to adjust strategies and recommend new courses of action.
- Establish clear vision, performance indicators, and success metrics, ensuring alignment across all segments of the bank.
- Identify barriers to performance and create actionable plans, including SWOT analysis, to overcome obstacles.
- Market Growth, Business Development & Go‑to‑Market Execution
- Identify opportunities to grow revenue, improve productivity, and strengthen long‑term value and market share.
- Develop and execute go‑to‑market plans, including bundled product approaches and cross‑sell strategies across the bank.
- Support expansion in legacy, de novo, and acquisition markets; assist with M\&A integration efforts, team builds, and strategic market entry.
- Recommend growth strategies and prioritize resources toward high‑potential opportunities.
- Represent UCMS at industry conferences to stay ahead of market trends and customer adoption patterns.
- Sales Execution & Performance Optimization
- Develop processes to plan, manage, and communicate sales initiatives, ensuring consistent execution across regions.
- Review and refine sales strategies quarterly to maintain competitiveness and customer responsiveness.
- Track performance, pipeline activity, and results to maintain visibility and accountability.
- Ensure exceptional service delivery across all customer segments.
- Relationship Management & Market Intelligence
- Build strong internal partnerships and cross‑functional collaboration to leverage sales and referral opportunities.
- Share and use market intelligence to support recruiting, competitive analysis, pricing, and compensation insights.
- Maintain strategic relationships with external partners and centers of influence (Realtors, builders, CPAs, attorneys, advisory boards).
- Talent Leadership, Culture & Organizational Development
- Recruit, lead, and develop a diverse, high‑performing sales team using effective coaching and performance management techniques.
- Identify required competencies and optimize organizational structure to support strategy and market coverage.
- Set goals, monitor performance, manage development plans, and ensure fair application of HR policies.
- Foster open two‑way communication and create a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead culture integration efforts in newly acquired markets.
- Develop tools and resources to improve employee performance and efficiency.
- Governance, Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure strong controls, monitoring, and reporting are in place to mitigate risk to the bank.
- Maintain compliance with bank policies, internal governance standards, and federal/state regulatory requirements.
- 15+ years of mortgage experience, including proven Sales Leadership.
- Deep knowledge of footprint markets and established industry relationships.
- Expertise in mortgage channels, including Distributed Retail and Consumer Direct.
- Advanced Retail Lending credit and risk management skills.
- Strong builder and Realtor relationships within the footprint.
- Mastery of sales execution and customer service excellence.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong relationship‑building across clients, prospects, recruits, and internal stakeholders.
- Effective collaborator with ability to influence across teams.
- Strategic thinker who delivers actionable plans aligned to organizational goals.
- Skilled in change management, planning, organization, and managing multiple priorities.
- Commitment to completing required compliance and regulatory training.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background & credit check
