Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000 - $140,000 annually

VIP, Inc. is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Human Resources to lead and modernize our people operations. This role partners closely with executive leadership to strengthen our HR infrastructure, support a growing workforce, and ensure compliance, safety, and consistency across the organization.

What You’ll Do
Lead all core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, retention, performance management, and employee relations
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on employee relations, investigations, corrective action, terminations, and compliance matters
Ensure compliance with all State and Federal employment laws, required trainings, and documentation
Oversee and continuously improve VIP’s workplace safety program, including training, inspections, incident review, and corrective actions
Maintain and update personnel policies and the employee handbook to reflect best practices and legal requirements
Oversee workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, leaves, accommodations, and DMV pull notice compliance
Develop manager toolkits, standardized documentation, and provide hands-on supervisor training in coaching, documentation, mediation, and safe work practices
Track HR and safety metrics, analyze trends, and drive continuous improvement
Ensure HR and safety practices meet CARF standards and support VIP’s mission and service quality
What We’re Looking For
Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, investigations, and documentation
Experience leading HR functions in a complex or regulated environment
Ability to communicate clearly, build trust, and coach supervisors effectively
Calm, confident judgment in high-stakes employee relations situations
Highly organized, discreet, and collaborative leadership style
Experience in vocational rehabilitation, disability services, or human services is highly desirable
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Safety/Risk Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of progressive HR experience with leadership responsibility preferred
Experience administering workplace safety programs and facilitating training preferred
HR certification (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR)
Additional Requirements
Reliable transportation and valid California driver’s license
Ability to meet VIP driver policy requirements, as applicable
Current First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
Ability to safely perform essential physical functions of the role (reasonable accommodations provided per ADA)
