Overview
An exciting opportunity awaits an accomplished hospitality finance leader to open and lead Century City Hotel, a newly reimagined luxury hotel in the heart of Los Angeles, California. Currently undergoing a complete transformation, the property will redefine modern luxury and sophistication in one of the city's most dynamic and prestigious neighborhoods.
Scheduled to reopen in late 2026, the hotel will feature approximately 350-400 guest rooms and suites, a vibrant lobby bar, a signature three-meal restaurant, and a pool, bar, and lounge with panoramic city views-creating a destination for both travelers and locals alike.
This is a fast-moving, hands-on Director of Finance opportunity, offering a rare chance to play a key role in shaping the hotel's financial foundation from pre-opening through stabilization. Working in close partnership with an engaged ownership group and Davidson, the Director of Finance will bring the ownership vision to life through disciplined financial strategy, operational partnership, and a Forbes Five-Star-caliber mindset.
Responsibilities
The Director of Finance will lead all financial operations for the property, with a strong emphasis on pre-opening, transition, and opening execution. From day one, this role will focus on building a strong financial infrastructure to support a successful reopening.
Key responsibilities include establishing financial controls, managing pre-opening accounting and books, and quickly engaging in budgeting and forecasting processes. The Director of Finance will partner closely with operations, ownership, and corporate teams to manage timelines, critical paths, and opening milestones.
This role will also be responsible for standing up the finance department, including interviewing, hiring, and developing a high-performing team. While support will be provided, success in this role requires a highly organized, proactive leader who can move quickly, take ownership, and thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Lead and oversee all financial operations, including pre-opening, opening, and stabilization phases
- Establish and maintain pre-opening books, ensuring accurate tracking of all project-related expenses
- Develop and execute budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, with immediate engagement in budget development
- Build and implement financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
- Monitor financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and drive profitability strategies
- Partner closely with operations and ownership to align financial goals with overall business strategy
- Manage project timelines, critical paths, and key opening milestones in collaboration with Davidson and ownership
- Recruit, hire, and develop the finance team, building a strong and scalable department from the ground up
- Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience in a finance leadership role within the hospitality industry, with pre-opening and/or transition experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in a fast-paced environment
- Experience building or restructuring finance departments and implementing financial systems and controls
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
- Excellent financial analysis and reporting capabilities
- Strong leadership skills with experience hiring, developing, and leading teams
- Proficiency in financial systems and software
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Experience in the Los Angeles market is a plus
