Venteon Finance is currently seeking a Director of Accounting & Finance for a manufacturing company located in the Metro-Detroit, MI area. This role will be responsible for formalizing processes, strengthening internal controls, improving reporting accuracy, and delivering meaningful financial insights to support leadership decision-making.
Requirements of the Director of Accounting & Finance
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing
- Experience leading accounting in a small to mid-sized privately held company
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience working in QuickBooks; ability to optimize system usage
- Proven ability to formalize processes and build scalable accounting infrastructure
Responsibilities of the Director of Accounting & Finance
- Oversee and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Review reconciliations, journal entries, and adjusting entries
- Establish disciplined month-end timelines and reporting standards
- Establish and formalize accounting processes and workflows
- Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
- Improve documentation and reporting structure within QuickBooks
- Ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements
- Monitor AR/AP processes and manage cash flow timing
- Develop cash flow forecasts and working capital strategies
- Coordinate with tax advisors, auditors, payroll providers, and external vendors
- Support inventory accounting and cost controls within a manufacturing environment
