Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting & Finance (CPA) to lead financial operations for a growing multi-location behavioral health organization. This role is responsible for GAAP financial reporting, tax compliance, financial strategy, and accounting leadership, while supporting company growth initiatives including multi-state expansion and mergers & acquisitions (M&A). The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in corporate taxation, financial operations, audit management, and healthcare finance.

Qualifications
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and taxation.
  • Candidate must have an active CPA license.
  • Candidate must hold a master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Proven knowledge and hands‑on experience in federal and multi‑state tax compliance, planning, and related reporting.
  • Direct involvement in mergers, acquisitions, or other strategic financial transactions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex financial information clearly to executives, boards, and external partners.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Experience
• Experience in healthcare finance, behavioral health organizations, or multi-location healthcare operations
• Experience working with ERP accounting systems (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar)
• Demonstrated leadership managing accounting or finance teams
• Experience supporting corporate growth, acquisitions, or financial restructuring
Key responsibilities
  • Oversee corporate tax compliance, including federal, state, and multi-state tax filings, ensuring alignment with IRS regulations and SALT requirements.Oversee end-to-end accounting, GAAP reporting, audit coordination, and process improvements to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
  • Interpret and apply IRS codes, tax laws, and regulatory updates to optimize tax positions and minimize risk.
  • Prepare and analyze GAAP-compliant financial statements, including profit and loss (P&L), balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Develop and oversee tax provisions, credits, incentives, and research on legislative or IRS guidance changes.
  • Work closely with external tax advisors on complex issues, notices, IRS inquiries, or audits; escalate and resolve tax risks.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) by conducting financial due diligence, valuation analysis, and post-merger integration planning to ensure financial stability and regulatory compliance.Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and tax efficiency.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, legal advisors, and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance reporting.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership to executives, supporting data-driven decision-making and long-term growth planning.
  • Provide strategic tax, audit, and regulatory guidance to support multi-state expansion, including analysis of state and local tax (SALT) implications, IRS codes, and coordination with legal advisors to ensure compliance and risk mitigation across jurisdictions.

Work Schedule
  • Four 10hr shifts per week (Monday – Thursday)
