Director for Curriculum

                                                        Position Description

POSITION TITLE:       Curriculum Director

FLSA:                          Exempt Professional

Reports to:                 Assistant Superintendent for Academic Services

Qualifications:         

• Minimum of AA in School Administration or higher
• Certification as required by the MS Educator Licensure Department
• A minimum of five years of experience in the field of Public Education
• A minimum of five years of supervisory experience
• Other such qualifications as the Board may deem acceptable and appropriate

Areas of Accountability:                            

1. Provides leadership and direction to the district’s instructional program.
2. Provides leadership and direction to educational programs as assigned (e.g. gifted, counseling, Title I, Parents as Teachers, English as a Second Language and Pre-K programs)
3. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Work with teachers and principals to direct, coordinate and facilitate instructional improvement initiatives.
2. Develop annual and long-range instructional goals of the district. 
3. Monitor and evaluates the performance and progress of the district’s instructional program.
4. Identify and enlists community agencies and individuals to support the district’s instructional program. 
5. Identify, write and coordinate grants to support instructional programs.
6. Develop and monitor the annual budget within the guidelines of the district and/or state. 
7. Ensure that program objectives are appropriate and effectively monitored.
8. Apply a working knowledge of federal, state and district requirements to revise instructional and educational programs.
9. Serve on committees and provide reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Academic Services.
