Summary:
The Director of Food, Nutrition, Environmental & Laundry Services is responsible for managing and directing the operations of the food, nutrition, environmental, and laundry services at Father Baker Manor and St. Francis Park on both a daily basis and strategic level. This position oversees the Purchasing function for the food, nutrition, environmental, laundry, and nursing services at Father Baker Manor and St. Francis Park. This position is also responsible for oversight of Food and Nutritional Services for both ministries, which includes the development and monitoring of daily operations, budget, infection control, safety, implementing best practices, and adherence to all regulations. Promotes, monitors and maintains a positive service culture.
Responsibilities:
SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM):
- The director of food and nutrition services must at a minimum meet one of the following qualifications or obtained within two (2) years following hire.
- A certified dietary manager; or
- A certified food service manager; or
- Has similar national certification for food service management and safety from a national certifying body; or
- Has an associate's or higher degree in food service management or hospitality, or
- An associates degree in a related field where the course study includes food service or restaurant management and is from an accredited institution of higher learning; or
- Has 2 or more years of experience in the position of Director of Food and Nutrition Services in a nursing facility setting and has completed a course of study in food safety and management that includes topics integral to managing dietary operations including, but not limited to, foodborne illness, sanitation procedures, and food purchasing/receiving
- Safe Certification required or obtained within six (6) months following hire.
EXPERIENCE
- Five (5) years experience in a Food Service management position in a Long Term Care Facility or Food Service Department required.
- Additional management experience in hospitality, environmental services or laundry preferred.
- Experience overseeing multiple facilities preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Should possess knowledge of clinical responsibilities.
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with all levels of personnel, as well as residents, families, and visitors.
- Possess active listening skills and planning skills to develop goals and objectives and implements action plans to meet those goals.
- Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvements, as well as positive problem resolution.
- Teaching abilities to promote optimum orientation and continuing education of staff.
- Budgeting skills to control fiscal operations of areas of responsibility and to identify and explain variances.
- Has current knowledge of State, Federal and local regulations as well as health care trends and issues.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrates problem-solving skills and ability to meet time frames.
- Independent decision maker.
- Willing to accept new assignments and responsibilities in problem-solving.
- Demonstrates strong skills in reasoning, analysis, and strategic planning.
- Demonstrates experience with Microsoft Office, Work Force Management and cbord.
- Ability to manage Inventory Controls.
