Position Description

Position Summary

New River Electrical is looking for a qualified Director of Finance Planning & Analysis with a desire to work in the construction industry. As the Director of Finance Planning & Analysis you will manage the corporate financial analysts’ function and their projects. This role will be leading the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis functions within an organization. The Director of FP&A ensures that financial plans align with business objectives, provides financial insights to support strategic decision-making, and manages the company’s financial performance. This role involves working closely with departmental Vice Presidents and managersto drive financial strategy and operational efficiency. This role reports to the Vice President of Finance and Accounting.


Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Lead and develop a high-performing team of professionals through the full HR lifecycle, providing clear direction and coaching to enable strong results and a positive team experience.
  2. Provide insights, expertise, training, and assistance to the team.
  3. Lead the development and management of the company’s annual budget and financial forecasts.
  4. Work with department heads to ensure budgets align with business objectives and financial goals.
  5. Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  6. Prepare and present detailed financial reports and analyses to management and stakeholders.
  7. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  8. Collaborate with management to develop and execute the company’s strategic plan.
  9. Monitor and analyze the company’s financial performance against budget and forecasts.
  10. Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop metrics to track financial performance.
  11. Act as a strategic business partner to department heads management.
  12. Provide financial guidance and support for business initiatives and projects.
  13. Implement and maintain financial planning and analysis systems and tools.
  14. Streamline and improve financial planning and analysis processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  15. Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
  16. There may be occasional travel for off-site meetings, events, or other business matters.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field required, with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in financial planning & analysis.
  2. At least two (2) years of leadership experience in leadership with strong preference to management of leadership teams.
  3. Must have demonstrated competency in managing, coaching, developing and motivating others. Experience in construction or utility industry is a plus.
  4. Demonstrated competency in analyzing and creating strategy out of KPI metrics.
  5. Demonstrated ability to analyze and report out financial data and its impact on projects to managementincluding risk mitigation plans.
  6. Strong understanding of ERP systems and tracking systems.
  7. Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including internal staff and external professionals.
  9. Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  10. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  11. Working knowledge with programs such as Smartsheet, Vista, PowerBI, Workday Adaptive Insights preferred.
  12. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  13. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within fixed timeframes.
  14. High levels of discretion and judgment in both interpersonal and business matters.
