OVERVIEW:
The Director, Creative Development & Production is a senior creative leader responsible for developing, producing, and delivering high-quality content across OBB Media's digital, branded, film, and television verticals. This role sits at the intersection of creative ideation and execution-guiding projects from early concept and pitch through production, post-production, and delivery.
Working closely with the SVP, Creative Development & Production, executive producers, production and post-production teams, brand partners, talent, and external stakeholders, the Director, Creative Development & Production ensures creative excellence, operational efficiency, and alignment with OBB's storytelling standards and business objectives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on creative producer with strong development instincts, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work across digital, branded, film, TV and live event/specials verticals to both ideate and realize projects from concept to delivery.
- Develop creative concepts, conduct research, manage budgets, and support internal teams including production, post-production, and marketing for existing and new series.
- Oversee creative production with internal and external executive producers and in collaboration with OBB's production department.
- Oversee post-production and editorial on projects, managing post-production calendars, budgets, deliverables, timelines, and giving notes on cuts.
- Create and pitch new digital/branded and premium concepts for consideration.
- Respond to creative briefs from brands, then oversee production of go-forward concepts.
- Identify creators, talent and IP for content development.
- Build and maintain relationships with partners, brands, talent, creators, crew, and vendors.
- Work with internal teams as well as external partner's marketing teams to create project-specific marketing materials and strategize distribution.
- Liaise with networks, brands and talent during pre-production, production and post, alongside EPs to ensure thorough communication through the life of a project.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience in lieu thereof.
- 7+ years of producing and development experience (including on-set production experience) spanning branded, network, streamers, etc.
- Ability to think creatively and flexibly, developing and producing properties in a wide range of formats, tailored to tell the story the best way, and reach the audience where they are. Ability to recognize if a brief or storytelling opportunity is best suited for a film, series, digital format, live event, or otherwise, and develop accordingly.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment while delivering outstanding results.
- Exceptional project management, verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Technical proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Understanding of development, production and post-production processes.
- Ability to review content containing rapid flashes or alternating patterns of different colors.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to work effectively within a team environment and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand, sit, walk up and down stairs.
- Must be able to work in a seated position for long periods of time.
- Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms at a computer keyboard for long periods of time.
- Must have the ability to speak clearly and distinctly, and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone.
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, walk up and down stairs, and frequently lift up to 30 pounds (and occasionally up to 50 pounds).
- Must be able to visually and physically inspect areas of the work site.
- Must be able to work in a standing and/or walking position for long periods of time.
- Must be able to drive, have reliable transportation, a valid license, and valid insurance (mileage is reimbursable).
- Some travel is required for this role. Must be able to travel by car and airplane.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This is an exempt on-site role Monday through Friday, and may require work on weekends occasionally. The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $130,000 to $160,000 per year. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the final candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
