Work Model: In-person / field-based leadership role
Travel: ~40%
Compensation: $175,000–$210,000 base + 40% STIP (accelerators tied to MW deployed) + LTIP discussion
About the Opportunity
A rapidly growing energy and power solutions platform is seeking a Director of Business Development – Data Centers to lead commercial expansion across the U.S. data center market. This role focuses on leased power, long-term power solutions, and alternative delivery models supporting continuous, high-density, mission-critical load.
This is a senior, hands-on BD leadership role for a commercial executive who understands how data centers buy power—and how to structure solutions beyond traditional backup generation.
What You’ll Do
Lead business development and origination efforts for data center customers nationwide
Drive complex pursuits involving:
Leased power solutions
PPA-adjacent structures
MW-scale and campus-level deployments
Build relationships with:
Data center infrastructure & energy leaders
Development, site selection, and real estate teams
Procurement, finance, and executive stakeholders
Position solutions for continuous and primary power use cases, not just standby power
Operate as a player/coach, personally leading strategic deals while supporting scalable sales execution
Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Finance to ensure commercial and technical alignment
Manage pipeline, forecasting, and deal progression using CRM tools
Support market positioning and brand credibility within the data center ecosystem
What We’re Looking For
10+ years of experience in complex, technical B2B sales
Background selling into one or more of the following:
Data centers (hyperscale, colo, edge)
Power generation or energy solutions
Mission-critical or industrial infrastructure
Experience with leased power, PPAs, or non-traditional power delivery models strongly preferred
Proven ability to sell long-cycle, multi-stakeholder projects
Strong executive presence and commercial judgment
Willingness to travel regularly and maintain in-person customer relationships
