Dietary Housekeeping Aide

Location: Victoria, TX

Department: Facilities

Reports To: Facilities Manager 

Employment Status: Full-Time / Rotating Schedule

Position Summary

Hospice of South Texas is seeking a reliable and compassionate Dietary/Housekeeping Aide to support our inpatient care center. This position assists with meal preparation and dietary services while maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for hospice patients, families, and staff.

The ideal candidate is dependable, team-oriented, and committed to providing excellent service in a healthcare setting.

Primary Responsibilities

Dietary Duties

  • Assist with food preparation and meal service for hospice patients
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and storage standards
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and food preparation areas
  • Help monitor food inventory and reduce supply waste

Housekeeping / Environmental Services Duties

  • Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas
  • Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly care environment
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols
  • Dispose of waste according to healthcare regulations

Team Support

  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned
  • Maintain compliance with Hospice of South Texas policies and regulatory standards

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Current Texas Food Handler Certification required

Experience

  • 1–3 years of dietary or housekeeping experience preferred
  • Healthcare or hospice experience preferred

Licensure & Transportation

  • Valid Texas Driver's License required
  • Reliable transportation and current auto insurance required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in sensitive environments

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in healthcare environments with exposure to illnesses and interruptions
  • Ability to work flexible or irregular hours if needed
