*The Developer II position has the ability to work fully remote within Washington, Oregon or Idaho.*

 

Role Summary:

The Developer II will play a crucial role in the development, enhancement, and support of our applications. This individual will work closely with Project Managers, Product Owners, and Sr. Developers to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our banking operations. The Developer II is expected to independently deliver significant features end-to-end within their domain, contribute to technical design decisions, identify opportunities to improve performance and reliability, and stay current on evolving technology and secure development practices.

 

What You Will Be Doing: 

  1. Work with Project Managers, Product Owners, and other developers to develop custom software applications
  2. Design, develop, and test code in alignment with Gesa’s coding standards and established patterns
  3. Develop custom Web APIs to integrate software components (REST/SOAP)
  4. Write unit tests as needed for their own and others’ software components; contribute to basic integration testing where appropriate
  5. Participate in technical design discussions for assigned work; propose implementation approaches and tradeoffs
  6. Optimize application performance and identify bottlenecks within owned components or services
  7. Design and implement security measures for assigned application areas; follow secure coding practices throughout the SDLC
  8. Participate in code reviews to improve code quality, security, and maintainability; incorporate feedback constructively
  9. Participate in incident response and problem resolution for production issues within assigned application areas
  10. Maintain comprehensive documentation for developed applications and systems
  11. Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing applications
  12. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying and addressing technical debt and recommending achievable process improvements
  13. Mentor associate and entry-level developers through pairing, code review feedback, and knowledge sharing
  14. Maintain knowledge of current and evolving technology; evaluate changes in or new technology and share relevant information with senior engineers and leadership
  15. Complete work accurately and on time

 

About You:

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  2. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and problem-solving skills
  3. Experience in an agile and scrum environment
  4. A working knowledge of web security principles and other security systems
  5. Ability to analyze information and recommend achievable process improvements to management
  6. Self-motivated and able to organize, prioritize and manage multiple complex tasks
  7. Ability to lead or facilitate technical discussions for assigned work and collaborate across teams and stakeholders
  8. Ability to mentor junior developers and provide constructive feedback through code reviews
  9. Working understanding of common application security risks and secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10 awareness)
  10. Awareness of secure software development practices (e.g., secure SDLC/SSDF-aligned practices) and software supply-chain considerations (dependency hygiene)
  11. Ability to travel to complete assigned responsibilities and attend professional seminars and education as approved

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent of specialized courses, training, and/or directly related experience may be substituted
  2. A minimum of three (3) years of similar or related functional and technical experience. At least one (1) year of Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) development preferred (i.e. Mulesoft)
  3. Knowledge of the Financial Industry, products, and services. Credit Union experience preferred
  4. Familiarity with at least one modern front-end technology (e.g., Angular or React)
  5. Familiarity with at least one modern back-end technology (e.g., NodeJS/Express or .NET)
  6. Familiarity with AI code assistance tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or Claude Code)
  7. Experience with at least one modern database platform (e.g., SQL Server or Oracle)
  8. Experience working and developing against REST or SOAP APIs
  9. Experience with an integration platform like MuleSoft (preferred)
  10. Experience with Git source control and basic branching workflows
  11. Coding languages may include (but are not limited to) C#, TypeScript, and JavaScript
  12. Familiar with microservices architecture and container technology like Docker
  13. Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and automated quality checks in pipelines (e.g., build/test/security checks)
  14. Exposure to application security or code scanning tools and remediation workflows (e.g., static analysis findings) is a plus

Full Salary Range:

Richland, WA: $83,450.81-$139,084.69

Spokane, WA: $83,450.81-$139,084.69

Lynnwood, WA: $94,830.47-$158,050.78

*While our full pay range is listed, most new team members typically start between the minimum and midpoint based on their experience and qualifications.  This approach gives room to grow within the role as your career progresses with us!"
