Detailer Trainee

Nucor Corporation is hiring a Detailer Trainee in Portland, TN (Onsite, Full-Time). This role is responsible for detailing and modeling all components of custom metal building systems using 3D drafting software to ensure accurate, complete design solutions. The top three requirements for this position are a high school diploma or GED, basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry, and experience operating CAD software.

Job Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic math, geometry, and trigonometry skills
• Experience operating CAD software
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
• Associate degree or two-year vocational certification in Architecture, Drafting, Construction Management, or Engineering Technology preferred
• One or more years of experience with Tekla Structures or similar 3D modeling software preferred
• Prior metal building detailing experience preferred
• Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, and procedures at all times

Job Duties:
• Create construction anchor bolt drawings
• Develop permit and approval drawings
• Produce electronic 3D models of custom building systems using 3D drafting software
• Generate shop drawings and reports for in-house fabrication and production teams
• Prepare erection drawings and bills of materials for field construction use
• Detail primary and secondary steel framing, wall and roof panel systems, flashings, and trims
• Ensure all building components fit together accurately within the complete design solution
• Maintain strict adherence to safety standards and housekeeping practices
