Job Summary
We are looking for a Design Consultant to own the client design experience from initial selection to finalized build specifications. In this role, you will act as the primary guide for homeowners, helping them navigate color selections and options while ensuring all decisions align with project timelines and construction standards.
You will bridge the gap between our clients, sales teams, and production staff to ensure a polished, intentional experience for every custom home we build.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Client Guidance: Lead a series of meetings to help clients customize their homes, providing clarity and confidence throughout the selection process.
- Project Accountability: Manage buyers against the project timeline to ensure selection-related delays never impact the build schedule.
- Documentation: Create and manage accurate change orders, selection sheets, and specification documents to ensure production and estimating teams have reliable information.
- Technical Coordination: Obtain pricing for custom items from the estimating department and review technical specifications to resolve potential field problems early.
- Design Center Oversight: Keep the Design Center current and organized, maintaining updated product displays, samples, and literature.
- Marketing & Content: Create engaging social media content to highlight design trends and showcase project inspiration to prospective clients.
- Spec & Model Homes: Execute design decisions for spec homes and ensure model homes are accurately labeled.
What We're Looking For (Requirements)
- Attitude: A positive, "upbeat" professional who starts with "yes" and is driven to find resolutions.
- Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of technical construction to plan efficient builds and price special options.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional aptitude for managing schedules and production milestones across multiple departments.
- Business & Sales Acumen: The ability to understand local market trends and maintain goodwill across all levels of the sales and construction process.
- Commitment: Willingness to work the hours required, including weekends, to ensure the success of the project and the satisfaction of the client.
- Tech Savvy: Ability to use data tracking software to improve operational efficiency.
Reporting & Relationships
- Reports to: Preconstruction Director.
- Collaborates with: Sales agents, superintendents, and all support departments.
- Supervises: Office-level personnel and subcontractor/supplier relationships regarding design.
Salary & Benefits
- Full Time
- $80,000-$100,000 Based on experience
