Overview

Part-time, unpaid internship opportunity for Summer 2026. The Dental Assistant Intern will gain practical experience in a clinical setting by assisting staff with patient care, office duties, and basic dental procedures.

Responsibilities

 

Under supervision, the Dental Assistant Intern will:

 

  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes and escort patients to exam rooms
  • Support collection of patient information, including health histories and vital signs
  • Help prepare treatment rooms and ensure proper sterilization of instruments
  • Observe and assist dentists during procedures as appropriate
  • Assist with scheduling, phone communication, and basic administrative tasks
  • Support preparation of patient charts and documentation
  • Learn and reinforce proper oral hygiene education for patients
  • Follow all safety and compliance guidelines (HRSA, Joint Commission, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a Dental Assistant program or related field preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills (electronic records preferred)
  • Willingness to learn in a clinical environment
