Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)

About the Role:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team. The DBA will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases. This role includes planning, development, and troubleshooting, as well as ensuring data remains consistent, secure, and accessible.
Key
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery of databases through backups and replication.
Optimize queries and database structure to improve performance and scalability.
Implement and maintain database security (user roles, permissions, encryption).
Develop, test, and deploy scripts and procedures to automate routine tasks.
Collaborate with developers and system administrators to ensure application efficiency.
Troubleshoot database issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide timely resolutions.
Maintain documentation related to database systems, processes, and policies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
Proficiency in database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
Experience with database backup, recovery, performance tuning, and security.
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell, Bash).
Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, Oracle DBA, AWS Certified Database Specialty).
Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
