Job Summary

Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technical Operations Engineer, Facility to oversee engineering operations within one of our state-of-the-art data centers. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical facility operations, vendor management, and team leadership.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site management of shift technicians, senior shift technicians, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring all work aligns with established procedures and safety standards.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, conduct operational analyses, and generate reports on all aspects of critical facility operations and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with IT managers and business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant performance and reliability.
  • Operate and manage both routine and emergency services across critical systems including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, CRAC units, and building monitoring systems.
  • Support the design and build-out of new facilities and contribute to projects aimed at increasing operational efficiency.
  • Oversee asset and inventory management to ensure accurate tracking and availability of critical components.
  • Participate in recruiting efforts to build a high-performing technical team.
  • Deliver exceptional service and ensure all customer requirements and SLAs are consistently met.

 

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Degree (Military/Trade School) in a relevant field.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in facility or data center operations.
  • 3+ years of experience in a management or supervisory role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and organizational abilities.
  • High attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, complex environment.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Data Center Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in Data Center Management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Fundamental knowledge of network design, layout, and low-voltage cabling (copper/fiber).
