The researcher will primarily be based in Golden, CO, USA and will manage the local experimental and laboratory facilities related to the superconducting sensing programs, however frequent travel to other locations including Michigan, TRIUMF (Vancouver, Canada) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (California) may be required. The candidate must be able to work well in diverse, mid-sized international collaborations, and will be responsible for documenting and disseminating their research work according to guidelines of the collaborations. It is also expected that researchers will have the interest and opportunity to develop their own new physics research directions within the general scope of our program.
Opportunities to collaborate on experiments at labs around the world within our research portfolio is also possible based on the candidates' expertise and interest. The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possible extension of a third. Description of Job
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Technical development of superconducting and/or optomechanical quantum devices for BSM physics searches using rare isotopes
• Low-background detection and cryogenic environment development for superconducting devices in the Colorado Underground Research Institute (CURIE)
• Develop and lead new physics research directions within the scope of the BeEST and SALER experiments for neutrino physics and fundamental symmetries
• Organize and lead the local research efforts in Colorado including mentoring a large team of student and staff researchers
• Interact with university, industry, and laboratory collaboration partners on various aspects of the technical and scientific components of the experiments, including travel and extended work on-location.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Publish research results in peer-reviewed, high-level scientific or technical journals
• Present results at national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
• Ph.D. in nuclear or particle physics, low-temperature physics, or related field
• Experience with data acquisition and analysis of subatomic physics experimental data
• Experience mentoring young researchers in a diverse, supportive environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Programing skills with C++, ROOT, python, etc.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to manage and lead a research program including drafting proposals and budgets
• Some experience with UHV environments, high voltage, and low-temperature environments
• Ability to travel nationally and internationally
Preferred Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Experience with cryogenic environments such as dilution refrigerators and/or ADRs
• Previous experience with superconducting devices such as STJs, TES', or MMCs
• Experience with data acquisition and analysis of subatomic physics experimental data
• Previous experience with lasers and fiber integration would be an asset
• Previous experience with X-ray generators would be an asset
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to perform CAD model designing such as SolidWorks
• Ability to wirebond small superconducting sensors

$65,000 - $70,000 annual salary rate
