Job Summary:
The Custom Trailer Builder is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and finishing of custom trailers according to detailed build sheets and engineering drawings. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, metal fabrication skills, and the ability to work with a variety of tools and materials in a fast-paced shop environment. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and takes pride in producing high-quality finished products.
 
Key Responsibilities:
• Fabricate and assemble custom trailers including frames, walls, flooring, and finishing components
 • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and build sheets to ensure accurate construction
 • Perform metal fabrication tasks including cutting, grinding, drilling, fitting, and welding
 • Install electrical systems including lighting, wiring harnesses, brake systems, and accessory components
 • Install mechanical systems such as axles, hitches, suspension components, doors, and ramps
 • Troubleshoot structural, electrical, or mechanical issues during the build process
 • Inspect completed trailers to verify quality and compliance with specifications
 • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
 • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines
 
Qualifications:
Required:
 • Experience in trailer assembly, metal fabrication, automotive repair, carpentry, or a related trade
 • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams
 • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
 • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
 • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods
 • High attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
Preferred:
 • MIG and/or TIG welding experience
 • Experience with 12V electrical systems and brake systems
 • Background in custom fabrication or specialty vehicle builds
 • Forklift or overhead crane experience
 
Working Conditions:
This position operates in a shop and warehouse environment with exposure to fabrication equipment, noise, and airborne particles. The role requires standing, lifting, bending, and handling materials throughout the shift. Proper PPE including gloves and eye protection is required at all times.
