Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend clients or argue for the prosecution against defendants in criminal cases.
- Conduct legal research to gather relevant information for cases, analyze legal data, and interpret laws, regulations, and rulings.
- Prepare and draft legal documents such as contracts, depositions, pleadings, appeals, and motions.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients, mediate disputes, and advise clients on their legal rights.
- Examine legal data to determine the advisability of defending lawsuits.
- Manage and oversee various cases from inception through resolution, ensuring all proceedings are conducted timely and efficiently.
- Participate in hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, and client meetings.
- Develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
- Guide clients through the legal process, explaining the law, their rights, and their options.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and other parties involved in each case.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and legislation in criminal law and propose new ideas to improve the efficiency of our legal services.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Criminal Defense Attorney or similar role.
- Must be licensed to practice law in the state.
- Proven experience in court trials, hearings, and depositions.
- Proficiency in legal research, legal writing, and drafting legal documents.
- Knowledge of criminal law, rules of evidence, and procedural law.
- Excellent negotiation, mediation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
- Bilingual ability is a must.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- High ethical standards and professionalism.
